1091. The State's Attorney for Montgomery County is
hereby authorized, empowered and directed to appoint a Law
Assistant to said State's Attorney at a compensation not to
exceed the sum of Two Thousand Four Hundred Dollars
($2400. 00) per annum in the discretion of and to be paid by
the County Commissioners of said county, said salary to be
paid monthly. The said Law Assistant, who shall be a mem-
ber of the Bar of the Court of Appeals of Maryland, shall
perform such work in said State's Attorney's office and such
other work as he may be directed by the said State's Attorney
in accordance with law, and before entering upon his duties
he shall execute a bond to the State of Maryland for the faith-
ful performance of his duties in the penalty of Twenty-five
Hundred Dollars ($2500. 00) to be approved by a Judge of the
Circuit Court for Montgomery County, and the premium of
said bond shall be paid by the County Commissioners of Mont-
gomery County.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

AN ACT to amend Section 91 of Chapter 720 of the Acts of
the General Assembly of Maryland (1939) title, "Justices
of Peace", new sub-title, "Trial Magistrate System", to pro-
vide for the appointment of one or more Justices of Peace
within the 4th, 7th and 13th Election Districts of Mont-
gomery County, Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 91 of Chapter 720 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, (1939) title, "Justices of Peace"
new sub-title, "Trial Magistrate System", be and the same
is hereby amended to read as follows:
91. Appointment. The Governor, by and with the advice
and consent of the Senate, shall appoint for every County of
the State one Justice of Peace for each of the election dis-
tricts thereof, and such number of justices of the peace at
large in the several counties, to be designated "Trial Magis-
trates", as is hereinafter specified in Section 98, and the Gov-
ernor by and with the advice and consent of the Senate shall
