gomery County", sub-title "Montgomery County Suburban
District", relating to the offices of the Commissioners from
the Fourth and Fifth Commissioner Districts in Mont-
gomery County and providing for the appointment of a
deputy clerk to the Board of County Commissioners and for
the appointment of a stenographer and other assistants and
employees in said districts.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 713 of Article 16 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Montgomery County (1939 Edition, Flack),
being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "Montgomery County", sub-title "Montgomery
County Suburban District" be, and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments, said section so amended to read
as follows:

713. The two members of the Board of County Commis-
sioners elected from the Commissioner Districts Four and
Five shall maintain daily office hours during which they
shall be in personal attendance at the County Buildings which
may be established by the Board of County Commissioners
within their respective Districts. The said Board is hereby
authorized and directed, upon the recommendation of the
County Commissioners representing the Fourth County Com-
missioner District, to appoint, discharge at pleasure and fix
the compensation of a Deputy Clerk to the Board of County
Commissioners; and upon the recommendation of the County
Commissioner of the Fifth Commissioner District, to appoint,
discharge at pleasure and fix the compensation of a deputy
clerk to the said Board. Each deputy clerk shall be a resi-
dent of Montgomery County and each of said deputy clerks
shall be on duty at the County Building located in the Com-
missioner District for which he is appointed on every business
day for not less than eight hours each day at such times as
the Board of County Commissioners may direct and shall
perform such duties as the said Board may require. Each of
said deputy clerks shall receive the compensation or salary
of not to exceed the sum of Two Thousand Seven Hundred
Dollars ($2, 700. 00) per annum, payable monthly in install-
ments.

Each of said Commissioners for the Fourth and Fifth Com-
missioner Districts shall appoint a stenographer for their
respective offices at an annual salary not to exceed $1, 500,
and such additional stenographers, typists, clerical help, as-
sistants and employees as may be necessary for the proper
performance of such duties as may be assigned to them by
the Commissioners for the Fourth and Fifth Commissioner
Districts, such additional stenographers, typists, clerical help,
