CHAPTER 768.
(House Bill 503)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 27 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
Crimes and Punishments, sub-title Sabbath Breaking, said
new section to be known as Section 572A and to follow
immediately after Section 572, of said Article, authorizing
and permitting the operation of and employment of and
working persons engaged in the occupation of operating1,
bathing beaches, bath houses, amusement parks, dancing
saloons, the sale of certain merchandise at retail, picnic
groves, amusements, games, amusement rides, amusement
devices, entertainments, shows, the renting or hiring of boats,
tables, chairs, beach umbrellas, on the first day of the
week, commonly called Sunday, within Anne Arundel
County, and repealing Section 560, 575 and 576 of
Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland
(1939 Edition) in so far as they prohibit the operation of
and or the employment of and working of persons engaged
in the occupation of operating bathing beaches, bath houses,
amusement parks, dancing saloons, the sale at retail of
certain merchandise, picnic groves, amusements, games,
amusement rides, amusement devices, entertainments,
shows, the renting and hiring of boats, tables, chairs, beach
umbrellas, on the first day of the week, commonly called
Sunday, within Anne Arundel County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and hereby is added to Article
27 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland (1939
Edition), title Crimes and Punishments, sub-title Sabbath
Breaking, said new section to be known as Section 572A, and
to follow immediately after Section 572 of said Article, and
to read as follows:

572A. It shall be lawful to operate, work at, or be employed
in the occupations of operating any bathing beach, bath house,
amusement park, dancing saloon, the sale or selling of any
novelties, souvenirs, accessories, or other merchandise essen-
tial to, or customarily sold at, or incidental to, the operation
of the aforesaid occupations and businesses, at retail, picnic
groves, amusements, games, amusement rides, amusement de-
vices, entertainments, shows and the hiring or renting of
boats, tables, chairs, beach umbrellas, on the first day
of the week, commonly called Sunday, within Anne Arun-
del County, and Sections 560, 575 and 576 of Article 27
of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland (1939 Edi-
