"Board of Assessment", said new sections to be known as
Sections 190A to 190J, inclusive, and to follow immediately
after Section 190 of said Article, relating to the Board of
Assessment of Montgomery County, its powers, duties and
privileges.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That ten new sections be and they are hereby added to
to the Code of Public Local Laws of Montgomery County
(1939 Edition), being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Montgomery Coun-
ty", sub-title "County Commissioners and Treasurer" to be
under a new sub-heading "Board of Assessment", said new
sections to be known as Sections 190A to 190J, inclusive, to
follow immediately after Section 190 of said Article and to
read as follows:
BOARD OF ASSESSMENT
190A. (a) The Board of County Commissioners of Mont-
gomery County is hereby directed to appoint a Board of As-
sessment consisting* of three (3) members one of whom shall
be designated as Chairman, shall devote his full time and at-
tention to the duties of his office and shall receive not more
than Thirty-six Hundred Dollars ($3, 600) per year in equal
monthly installments. Each of the other two (2) members of
said Board of Assessment shall receive not more than Three
Thousand Dollars ($3, 000) per year in equal monthly install-
ments.
The first appointees under this Act shall serve for terms of
one, three and five years respectively, as designated by the
County Commissioners; but thereafter each appointee shall
serve for a term of six (6) years. Any member of the Board
may be removed by the County Commissioners only for good
cause shown after due notice to such member and after a
duly advertised public hearing.
(b) The Board of County Commissioners may also appoint
a Chief Clerk of the Board of Assessment who shall serve at
the pleasure of the Board of County Commissioners, and shall
receive not more than Three Thousand Dollars ($3, 000) in
equal monthly installments.
(c) When additional assessors are required, the Board of
Assessment shall certify its need therefor to the Board of
County Commissioners and the County Commissioners shall
appoint one or more Deputy Assessors and fix his or their
compensation and term of office.
(d) The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint such
other clerks and employees as may be needed to execute and
