SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
. effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 725.
(House Bill 681)

. AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
332 and 335 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1939 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-
title "Health—Narcotic Drugs" and to repeal Section 338
of said Article and to enact in lieu thereof a new Section
338, all relating to the sale and use of narcotic drugs.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 332 and 335 of Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Crimes and Punish-
ments", sub-title "Health—Narcotic Drugs", be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted and that Section 338 of said
Article be and it is hereby repealed and that a new Section
338 be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, and all to read
as follows:

332. (1) A duly licensed manufacturer or wholesaler may
-sell and dispense narcotic drugs to any of the following per-
sons but only on official written orders:

(a) To a manufacturer, wholesaler, pharmacist or phar-
macy owner.

(b) To a physician, dentist or veterinarian.

(c) To a person in charge of a hospital, but only for use
by or in that hospital; provided, the official written order is
signed by a physician, dentist, veterinarian or pharmacist
connected with such hospital.

(d) To a person in charge of a laboratory but only for use
*in that laboratory for scientific and medicinal purposes.

(2) A duly licensed manufacturer or wholesaler may sell
narcotic drugs to any of the following persons:

(a) On a special written order accompanied by a certifi-
cate of exemption, as required by the Federal narcotic laws,
to a person in the employ of the United State Government,
or of any State, territory, district, county, municipality, or
