1266 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 724

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Governor shall appoint seven persons who shall
constitute a Commission to be known as the "Commission on
the Revision of the State Motor Vehicle Laws". The members
of said Commission shall consist of persons thoroughly quali-
fied by experience and knowledge in motor vehicle law and
traffic problems, and shall serve without compensation, other
than the necessary traveling or other expenses incurred in
attending meetings or performing duties incidental to the
work of the Commission.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That it shall be the duty
of said Commission to investigate thoroughly the entire sub-
ject of motor vehicle legislation and traffic problems in the
State of Maryland and in other States and to compare the
present laws with the model law adopted by the National
Conference on Street and Highway Safety, with a view to»
bringing the Maryland law more into conformity with the
standards generally accepted by other States, to eliminate
duplications and non-essentials in the present law and to
simplify the law as much as possible.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the said Commis-
sion shall have the power to appoint a Secretary and to en-
gage such experts or other clerical assistants as may be re-
quired and at such compensation as said Commission shall
determine, not to exceed the funds made available therefor.
The Commission shall have authority to summon and examine
witnesses, administer oaths, examine all public records and to-*
call upon all public officials and agencies to furnish informa-
tion in their possession. It shall be the duty of all public
officials to co-operate in every way possible with the said
Commission in making said survey and investigation.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the Commission i&
hereby authorized to form such advisory committee or com-
mittees outside of its membership as may seem desirable to
assist its work and to accept any expert, financial or other as-
sistance that may be available from public or private agencies
or foundations.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That the expenses of the
Commission shall be paid for out of such funds as may be
provided therefor in the State Budget or otherwise.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the said Commis-
sion shall submit its report of findings, with recommenda-
tions and drafts of any legislation deemed desirable, to the
