per annum, which salary may be increased by the County Com-
missioners in their discretion. The clerk so appointed shall
hold his office at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors of
Elections, and shall be removable by them in their discretion
at any time. It shall be the duty of the clerk in said county,
with the approval of the Supervisors of Elections, to secure
such temporary assistants as may be necessary for the proper
transaction of the business of the office, but the compensation
of such assistants shall not exceed the sum of three hundred
dollars ($300) in any one year. The salary of the clerk and
the compensation of the temporary assistants shall be payable
by the County Commissioners of Washington County.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1st, 1939,

CHAPTER 437.
(House Bill 610)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
143L of Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Calvert County", sub-title
"Installation of Electrical Apparatus and Wiring", as said
section was amended by Chapter 553 of the Acts of 1933,
and to add one new section to said Article, said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 143LA and to follow imme-
diately after Section 143L of said Article, relating to elec-
trical work in Calvert County and imposing certain condi-
tions for the furnishing of electricity for any premises.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 143L of Article 5 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Calvert
County", sub-title "Installation of Electrical Apparatus and
Wiring", as said section was amended by Chapter 553 of the
Acts of 1933, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments, and that one new section be and it is hereby
added to said Article, said new section to be known as Sec-
tion 143LA, to follow immediately after Section 143L of said
Article, and all to read as follows:

143L. Nothing in this sub-title shall be construed to pre-
vent any person from doing or performing any of the kinds
of work enumerated in this sub-title, provided that such work
