CHAPTER 431.
(Senate Bill 466)

AN ACT to transfer to the State Department of Drainage
the unexpended balance in the State Treasury remaining
from the appropriation made for the years 1936 and
1937 by Chapter 92 of the Acts of 1935, for the purpose
of providing for the drainage of agricultural lands in
Wicomico and Worcester Counties.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That the sum) of $15, 777. 18, being the unex-
pended balance appropriated by the Acts of 1935, Chapter
92, Part IV—Contingent Appropriations From General
Funds, Item 22, for each of the years 1936 and 1937 "for
drainage to oyster beds in Pocomoke Sound caused by
operations of the Federal Government and contingent upon
the dredging of a channel in Pocomoke Sound by the Fed-
eral Government", be and the same is hereby transferred
to the State Department of Drainage to provide for improv-
ing the drainage of agricultural lands in Worcester and
Wicomico Counties, by improving, deepening, widening,
and straightening the channel of the Pocomoke River, said
work to extend from the Maryland-Delaware boundary
down stream so far as may be necessary in the opinion of
the State Department of Drainage to afford better drain-
age to agricultural lands. The funds herein transferred
may be used to rent or purchase machinery and equipment
for excavation and clearing operations, to maintain and
operate such machinery and equipment, to employ technical
and clerical assistance, and for any other purposes which
may be necessary to accomplish the purposes of this Act.

No funds transferred under this act shall be used to
purchase or acquire rights of way.

The State Roads Commission shall bear all costs of such
changes, construction or reconstruction of highways and
bridges as may be necessary to permit the provision of
adequate drainage facilities under this act.

The transfer of funds under this act shall be conditional
upon the establishment, by the United States Department
of Agriculture, of a C. C. C. Camp, said camp to be spe-
cifically authorized to cooperate with the Maryland State
Department of Drainage in carrying out the purposes of
this act.

The transfer of funds under this act shall be further
conditional upon the appropriation, by Worcester County
and by Wicomico County, of $10, 000 per county, said funds
