committee of three voters present thereat shall be designated
by said meeting with authority to fill vacancies in case any
person or persons nominated at the meeting shall die or be-
come disqualified before the election or refuse to accept nomi-
nation; and nominations for said offices may also be made by
petition bearing the signatures of at least 35 qualified voters
of said town and presented to the Mayor and Common Coun-
cil at least five (5) days before the date of the election.

161B. The Mayor and Common Council shall cause the
names of all persons duly nominated by either of the afore-
going methods to be printed alphabetically on the official bal-
lots to be used at the ensuing election, and as many blank
spaces as there are offices to be filled at such election shall
also be provided on said ballots for the purpose of "write-ins. "

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 56.
(House Bill 192)

AN ACT to authorize the Trustees of the Frederick Female
Seminary to transfer the funds and securities under their
control as such Trustees to Hood College as an endowment,
under certain conditions, to provide scholarships in said
College in aid of the higher education of female students,
said scholarships to be awarded annually by said College,
subject to the approval of the Board of Education of Fred-
erick County, and, when said transfer is made, to vest in
said County Board of Education all rights and interests of
said Trustees with respect to the administration and con-
tingent reversion of said endowment, and to terminate the
corporate existence of said Trustees of the Frederick Female
Seminary.

WHEREAS, in pursuance of Chapter 265 of the Acts of 1931
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the Trustees of the
Frederick Female Seminary conveyed the buildings and prop-
erty of said Seminary in the City of Frederick to the County
Commissioners of Frederick County by deed dated the 1st
day of August, 1931, and recorded in Liber No. 380, folio 180,
one of the Land Records of said County, the purchase price
