346. The Treasurer shall be entitled to appoint such clerk
or clerks as he may deem necessary, and for whose official
conduct he shall be responsible; said clerk or clerks to be paid
by the Treasurer out of the salary provided by law to be paid
him as compensation for the discharge of his official duties as
the collector of taxes, but in addition thereto the County
Commissioners shall allow and pay over to said Treasurer for
clerk hire the sum of $7, 200. 00 yearly, to be paid to the said
Treasurer in monthly installments; and the said amount of
$7, 200. 00 provided to be paid by this Act shall include any
amount paid by the County Commissioners for clerk hire tinder
the provisions of Chapter 450 of the Acts of 1935.

CHAPTER 366.
(House Bill 681)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 2 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Anne Arun-
del County", sub-title "County Commissioners", said sec-
tion to be known as Section 227 and to follow immediately
after Section 226 of said Article, to authorize and empower
the County Commissioners to establish from time to time
special zones in Anne Arundel County and to grant special
privileges or benefits to persons or property in such zones
and to levy special taxes or assessments in said zones to pay
for such special benefits or privileges.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That a new section be and is hereby added to Article 2 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "County Commission-
ers", said new section to be known as Section 227, to follow
immediately after Section 226 of said Article, and to read as
follows:

227. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
are hereby authorized and empowered to establish from time
to time special zones in Anne Arundel County, and to furnish
and provide special privileges or benefits to persons or prop-
erty in such zones, and to levy special taxes or assessments
upon property in such zones receiving special benefit to pay
the costs of furnishing, providing, and maintaining such spe-
cial privileges or benefits. Provided, however, that before any
