County Commissioners to levy a sufficient sum in the year
1940 to pay said sum, together with interest thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Garrett County be
and they are hereby authorized and directed to levy for the
year 1941 the sum of eighteen thousand dollars for construct-
ing and equipping public school buildings at North Glade and
McHenry, each to be two-room buildings, the cost of the build-
ing at North Glade not to exceed $8, 000. 00, and the cost of the
building" at McHenry not to exceed $10, 000. 00.
SEC. 1A. And be it further enacted, That the County Board
of Education of Garrett County be and it is hereby authorized
to borrow on its promissory note the sum of $12, 000. 00 for
the construction and equipment of a new school building in
the year 1939 at Bloomington in said County. The said build-
ing shall be erected in accordance with the provisions of Chap-
ter 4 of the Acts of 1939. The County Commissioners of Gar-
rett County are hereby authorized and directed to levy in the
year 1940 a sufficient sum to pay said note with interest there-
on.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the County Com-
missioners and the Board of Education of Garrett County
shall determine upon the plans for said school buildings, the
said plans and site for said buildings to be approved by the
State Superintendent of Schools as provided in Section 30
of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That, after the plans
submitted by the said County Commissioners and the Board
of Education for Garrett County shall have been approved by
the State Superintendent of Schools, the said Board of Edu-
cation shall invite sealed proposals by advertisement, to be
inserted in such newspapers as it shall deem proper, for the
construction and completion of said work, which bids shall
be in sealed envelopes which shall be publicly opened on the
day and hour named in said advertisement. Said bids or pro-
posals shall set forth the amount of money for which the par-
ties proposing will construct and complete the buildings, in-
cluding heating apparatus, electrical wiring and other equip-
ment according to the specifications, and the time or times
at which payments thereof shall be made, and the time when
said buildings shall be completed. The said Board of Educa-
tion shall award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder,
giving satisfactory bond to the State of Maryland in such
penalty as said Board shall determine, conditioned for the
