CHAPTER 344.

(Senate Bill 427)

AN ACT to add one new Section to Article 1 of the Code
of Public Local Laws (1930 Edition), title "Allegany
County", sub-title "Teachers Salaries"; the said new Sec-
tion to be numbered Section 620-A, and to follow imme-
diately after Section 620 of said Article, and establishing
a minimum salary schedule for teachers in both elemen-
tary and high schools and for principals in elementary
schools in Allegany County, based on preparation and
experience, and providing that the County Commis-
sioners of Allegany County shall levy sufficient funds to
pay the scale of salaries herein established.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That one new Section be, and the same is hereby
added to Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws (1930
Edition), title "Allegany County", sub-title "Teachers
Salaries", to be known as Section 620-A, and to follow
immediately after Section 620 of said Article, and to read
as follows:

620-A. No teacher regularly employed in either the
elementary or the high schools of Allegany County, and no
principal regularly employed in the elementary schools of
said County shall receive salaries less than the amount pro-
vided for in the following schedule for varying amounts of
training and successful experience, provided that such
teachers and principals having eight years' or less exper-
ience prior to the effective date of this schedule shall receive
the salaries in the new schedule corresponding with their
years of experience, and such teachers and principals hav-
ing more than eight years' experience prior to the effective
date of this Act shall receive only one salary increment for
experience in any two year period; but no such teacher or
principal whose certificate is rated by the County Superin-
tendent of Allegany County as second class, as provided in
Section 88 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
shall receive any salary increment based on experience. No
teacher, without degree, holding a regular first class or
higher certificate shall receive a salary of less than
$l, 000. 00 per school year during the first year of service;
$1036. 00 per school year for the second year of service;
$1084. 00 per school year for the third year of service;
$1144. 00 per school year for the fourth year of service;
$1216. 00 per school year for the fifth and sixth years of
