SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Annapolis",
said new section to be known as Section 60B, to follow imme-
diately after Section 60A of said Article, as added by Chapter
400 of the Acts of 1937, and to read as follows:
60B. Notwithstanding any provision of any Public General
or Public Local Law, it shall be lawful to operate any bowling
alley, tenpin alley or duckpin alley in the City of Annapolis
between the hours of 1. 00 o'clock P. M. and 12. 00 o'clock mid-
night on Sunday, subject to the same restrictions, regulations
and provisions of law applicable to such operation on week-
days. The work or employment of any person in connection
with such operation of any such alley shall not be unlawful
because performed on Sunday.
SEC. 2. And be It -further enacted, That all laws or parts
of laws, whether Public General or Public Local Laws, incon-
sistent with the provisions of this Act, and especially Sections
483 and 485 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1924 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title
"Sabbath-Breaking" are hereby repealed to the extent of such
inconsistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That Sections 1 and 2
of this Act shall not become effective until they shall have been
submitted, for adoption or rejection, to the qualified voters of
the City of Annapolis at the City Election for Mayor, Counse-
lor and Aldermen next after the passage of this Act. There
shall be printed on the ballots to be used at said election the
title of this Act and underneath said title on separate lines,
a square box to the right of and opposite the words "For
Bowling on Sunday", and a corresponding square or box to the
right of and opposite the words "Against Bowling on Sun-
day", so that the voters shall be able to designate by a cross
mark in the proper square or box his or her decision for or
against said question. If a majority of the votes cast on said
question shall be "For Bowling on Sunday", then Sections 1
and 2 of this Act shall become effective thirty (30) days after
said election, unless such election be contested, in which event
they shall take effect one week after the final determination
of such contest, but if a majority of the votes cast thereon shall
be "Against Bowling on Sunday", then this Act shall be null
and void and of no effect whatsoever.
