CHAPTER 227.
(House Bill 307)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
163 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "Washington County", sub-title
"Health", providing compensation for the County Commis-
sioners of Washington County while acting as local Boards
of Health.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 163 of Article 22 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub-title "Health", be and the same is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

163. The County Commissioners of Washington County
shall, when sitting as a local board of health, annually, in the
month of May, or as soon thereafter as practicable, appoint a
health officer who shall be a well educated physician, and who
by virtue of such appointment shall be the secretary of such
board of health and the executive officer thereof; provided,
that the salary to be paid said health officer shall be fixed by
the County Commissioners at the time of his appointment,
and he shall not receive for his services any further compensa-
tion from the County Commissioners in the way of salary or
fees, but he may be allowed for legitimate expenses in the dis-
cretion of the County Commissioners. Each of said County
Commissioner shall be paid $50. 00 per month as compensation
for sitting as said local Board of Health, the same to be paid
for the years 1939 to 1942, inclusive.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.
