cation of voters, and the levy for the Volunteer Fire Com-
pany, and providing for a referendum thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sub-section (A) of Section 264, sub-sections (F),
(H) and (L) of Section 274, and Section 305 of Article 17 of
the Code of Public Local Laws (1930 Edition), title "Prince
George's County", sub-title "Cottage City", be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as
follows:
264. (A) The corporate powers of said town shall be vested
in and shall be exercised by, and that said town shall be gov-
erned by, a commission to be known as the Cottage City Com-
mission. Said commission shall be composed of five members,
one from each ward, and one to be elected as Commissioner
at large, to be known as Commissioners. Said Commission-
ers shall be selected and shall qualify as such Commissioners
in the manner provided for in this sub-title.
(F) Said registration shall be conducted on the day
named between the hours of 2 o'clock P. M. and 8 o'clock P. M.
at the regular meeting place of the Cottage City Commission
unless said Commission shall, by resolution entered in the
minute books of said Commission, appoint a different place.
(H) All citizens of the United States who have attained the
age of twenty-one and who have been bona fide residents of
said town for at least three (3) months prior to their regis-
tration, shall be eligible to register, and after registering, shall
be eligible to vote at all town elections so long as they re-
main bona fide residents of said town but, unless actual resi-
dents of the town on the day of election, shall not be eligible
to vote.
(L) Annually, on the first Monday in May, if not a legal
holiday, and if a legal holiday then on the day following said
Board of Election Supervisors shall conduct an election by
ballot for the election of Commissioners. Said election shall
be held at the regular meeting place of the Cottage City
Commission and the polls shall be open and the ballots cast
between the hours of 2 o'clock P. M. and 8 o'clock P. M. At
such election each registered voter shall be allowed to vote for
a candidate from each of the four wards and for a candidate
for Commissioner at Large.
At the election to be held in May 1940, the two candidates
receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected to serve
for a term of two years and the three candidates receiving the
next highest number of votes shall be elected for a term of one
