LAWS OF MARYLAND OF 1939
MARYLAND, Sct.:
At a Session of the General Assembly of Maryland, begun and
held in the City of Annapolis, on the Fourth day of
January, 1939, and ending on the Third day of April,
1939, the Honorable Herbert R. O'Conor, being Gov-
ernor of the State, the following Laws were enacted,
to wit:
CHAPTER 1.
(House Bill 3)
AN ACT to repeal Sections 629, 630 and 630A of Article 16 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Montgomery County", sub-title "Merit System", as
said sections were enacted by Chapter 485 of the Acts of
1937, said sections extending the Classified Service to cer-
tain positions in Montgomery County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 629, 630 and 630A of Article 16 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Montgomery County", sub-title "Merit System", as said sec-
tions were enacted by Chapter 485 of the Acts of 1937, be and
they are hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of
its passage.

tion), title "Elections, " sub-title "Offenses, " to prohibit the
