ized and directed, upon the recommendation of the County
Commissioners representing the Fourth County Commission-
er District, to appoint, discharge at pleasure and fix the com-
pensation of a Deputy Clerk to the Board of County Com-
missioners; and upon the recommendation of the County Com-
missioner of the Fifth Commissioner District, to appoint, dis-
charge at pleasure and fix the compensation of a deputy clerk
to the said Board. Each deputy clerk shall be a resident of
Montgomery County and each of said deputy clerks shall be
on duty at the County Building located in the Commissioner
District for which he is appointed on every business day for
not less than eight hours each day at such times as the Board
of County Commissioners may direct and shall perform such
duties as the said Board may require. Each of said deputy
clerks shall receive the compensation or salary of not to ex-
ceed the sum of two thousand four hundred dollars ($2, 400. 00)
per annum, payable monthly in instalments.

Each of said Commissioners for the Fourth and Fifth Com-
missioner Districts shall appoint a stenographer for their re-
spective offices at an annual salary not to exceed $1, 500.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 175.
(House Bill 412)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
144A of Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Frederick County", sub-
title "Dogs", as said section was enacted by Chapter 414 of
the Acts of 1933, reducing the license on female dogs in
said county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 144A of Article 11 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Frederick
County", sub-title "Dogs", as said section was enacted by
Chapter 414 of the Acts of 1933, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-ordained? with amendments, to read as follows:

144A. On or before the first day of July, 1933, and on or
before the first day of July of each year thereafter, the owner
