and the same are hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 173.
(House Bill 401)

AN ACT to add two (2) sections to be known as Section 870A
and Section 871A to Article 16 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery County", sub-title
"Schools"; to provide for the appointment of an assistant
to the Supervisor of School Property; to prohibit the Sup-
ervisor or assistant from having an interest in any County
contract; to provide for the obtaining of insurance upon
school property and bonds upon school employees, and to
provide for the levying of taxes for the purposes hereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted "by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That new sections be added to Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery County",
sub-title "Schools", said new sections to be known as Sections
870A and 871A, and to follow respectively after Section 870
and 871 of Article 16, and to read as follows:

870A. The Supervisor of School Property shall appoint an
assistant to aid him in carrying out his duties. Such assist-
ant shall receive a salary of Eighteen Hundred Dollars
($1, 800. 00) per annum and an additional sum of Six Hundred
Dollars ($600. 00) per annum for expenses incurred in carry-
ing out his official duties. Neither the Supervisor of School
Property nor his assistant shall have any pecuniary interest
in any contract entered into by the County Commissioners, the
Board of Education, or on behalf of Montgomery County.

871A. Whenever any law requires, or the Board of Educa-
tion of Montgomery County shall authorize, the insuring of
any of the school property or of any activity of the Board of
Education against any hazard or risk including liability or
collision insurance, or the bonding of any employee of the
County School System of Montgomery County, it shall be the
duty of the Superintendent of School Property to procure
such insurance or bond and any renewal or renewals thereof.
