or deputy of Anne Arundel County for any wrongful pur-
pose shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction,
shall be fined not less than five dollars ($5. 00) nor more
than one hundred dollars ($100. 00), or sentenced for not
less than ten (10) nor more than sixty (60) days in jail.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1939.

(Senate Bill 304)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
165 and 382 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub-title "Library", authorizing the County
Commissioners of Washington County and the Mayor
and Council of Hagerstown to appropriate additional
sums for the use of the Washington County Free Library.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 165 and 382 of Article 22 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Washington County", sub-title "Library", be and
they are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments
to read as follows:

165. The County Commissioners of Washington County
are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a
contract with The Washington County Free Library,
whereby they shall contract to contribute annually
in perpetuity the sum of forty-five hundred dollars per
annum for the care and maintenance of the said, The
Washington County Free Library. In addition to the
above amount, the said Commissioners are hereby author-
ized in their discretion to appropriate not exceeding two
thousand dollars annually for the care and maintenance
of said Library.

382. The Mayor and Council of Hagerstown are hereby
authorized and directed, to enter into a contract
with The Washington County Free Library, whereby
they shall contract to contribute annually, in per-
petuity, the sum of $3, 000 per annum for the care and
