and nineteen, officers and no other employees whatever.
The Chief of Police shall receive a salary of twenty-one
hundred dollars ($2100. 00) per annum; each sergeant shall
receive sixteen hundred and twenty dollars ($1620. 00) per
annum; each desk sergeant shall receive fifteen hundred
dollars ($1500. 00) per annum; and each police officer shall
receive not more than fourteen hundred and forty dol-
lars ($1440. 00) nor less than twelve hundred dollars
($1200. 00) per annum; all salaries shall be paid in equal
monthly instalments, and no other fee or compensation
whatsoever shall be paid to any member of said Depart-
ment.

Section 406¾. There shall be a Board of Examiners
for the Police Department of Anne Arundel County, com-
posed of three members. The Board shall consist orig-
inally of Dr. O. H. Gaver, Earl H. Moore, and Dr. James S.
Billingslea, all of whom shall serve until June 1st, 1943.
All subsequent members of the Board shall be appointed
by the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
from persons owning property assessed for taxation for at
least two thousand dollars ($2, 000. 00). One such member
shall be an experienced physician, residing in Anne Arundel
County; and one member shall be of the opposite political
party from that of the majority of the County Commis-
sioners. All terms of office shall begin on June 1st.
Of the members first appointed by the County Commis-
sioners, one shall be designated to serve until June 1st,
1945; one until June 1st, 1947; and one until June 1st, 1949.
Thereafter, all terms of office shall be for six years.
Each member shall take oath to perform the duties
of his office faithfully and impartially and shall receive
as full compensation for his services an annual salary of
three hundred dollars ($300. 00). Any member of the
Board may be removed by the County Commissioners only
for cause and after hearing. Any vacancy on said Board
shall be filled by the County Commissioners for the unex-
pired portion of the term. No member of the Board shall
hold any other public office or position whatever, appointive
or elective, or any office in any political club or organiza-
tion.

Section 406A. All appointments to the Anne Arundel
County Police Department shall be made from the qualified
voters of Anne Arundel County, and the Board of Police
Examiners of Anne Arundel County shall provide printed
application blanks upon which each applicant shall set
forth in his own handwriting his full name and age, place
and State of birth, his occupation for five years preceding
