CHAPTER 757.
(Senate Bill 261)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
6 of Chapter 368 of the Acts of 1937, entitled "An Act
to authorize the creation of a State debt in the aggregate
amount of not exceeding One Million Dollars ($1, 000, 000),
the proceeds thereof to be used for the purpose of erecting
and equipping a new State Office Building in Annapolis,
the Capital of the State, and to provide generally for the
issue and sale of Certificate of Indebtedness evidencing
such loan. "

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 6 of Chapter 368 of the Acts of 1937, en-
titled "An Act to authorize the creation of a State debt in
the aggregate amount of not exceeding One Million Dollars
($1, 000, 000), the proceeds thereof to be used for the purpose
of erecting and equipping a new State Office Building in
Annapolis, the Capital of the State, and to provide generally
for the issue and sale of Certificates of Indebtedness evidenc-
ing such loan", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the actual cash
proceeds of the sale of the Certificates of Indebtedness to be
issued under this Act, shall be paid to the Treasurer of the
State upon the warrant of the Comptroller, and such proceeds
shall be used exclusively for the following purposes, to wit:

The Comptroller shall immediately upon the sale of and pay-
ment for said bonds or Certificates of Indebtedness, first re-
turn to and credit the Treasury for a sum equivalent to the
amount expended, as provided for by Section 5 of this Act;
the remainder of the proceeds of said loan shall be credited on
the books of the State Treasury Department to the credit of
the Board of Public Works and shall be used, expended and
applied for the acquisition of a site in the City of Annapolis
and for the erection thereon of a State Office Building and the
equipment thereof. The Board of Public Works is hereby
authorized to acquire said site by purchase or condemnation
under Article 33A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, and
is further authorized to use as a part of said site the property
of the State of Maryland acquired for the use of the Military
Department, and raze and demolish the Armory erected there-
on. Any unexpended and unobligated balance of said loan,
unnecessary for the purposes aforesaid, may be allocated by
the Board of Public Works for the following purposes: not
more than One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100, 000) may be
