provided, however, that Sections 21, 22 and 24, hereof,
except to enforce the Motor Vehicle Laws of this State
shall not apply to Charles and Howard Counties.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 751.
(Senate Bill 178)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
46 of Article 26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1924 Edition), title "Courts", sub-title "Pensions of
Judges", granting pensions to judges reaching the age
of sixty after having served the preceding twenty con-
secutive years, and to each person heretofore or here-
after elected judge and who shall be serving as such
judge when attaining the age of seventy years.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Section 46 of Article 26 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Courts", sub-title
"Pensions of Judges", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments to read as follows:

46. Every elected judge of the circuit court for any of
the counties, and of the supreme bench of Baltimore City,
and of the court of appeals, who shall attain the age of
seventy years while in office, or who shall attain the age of
sixty years while in office, after having served the twenty
preceding consecutive years, and every judge of any of said
courts who shall have served upon the bench fifteen con-
secutive years, whether such service be before or after
April 7, 1904, or partly before or partly after said date,
and who shall have reached the age of seventy, and every
person who has heretofore been elected and has served as
judge of any of said courts, and is now no longer in office
and has attained the age of seventy years, or if not now
seventy years of age, when he shall attain said age, shall
be entitled to a salary of twenty-four hundred dollars per
annum, payable in quarterly instalments, as other judges'
salaries are now paid.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1st, 1939.
