1608 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 750
CHAPTER 750.
(Senate Bill 144)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
21 of Article 88B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1935 Supplement), title "State Police", eliminating
Montgomery County from the list of counties to which
Sections 21, 22 and 24 of said Article shall not apply.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Section 21 of Article 88B of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement), title "State
Police", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:

21. It shall be the duty of police employees of the De-
partment to prevent and detect crime, to apprehend crim-
inals, to enforce the criminal laws and motor vehicle laws
of the State, and to perform such other related duties as
may be imposed upon them by the Legislature, and to this
end, police employees of the Department shall be peace
officers, and shall have in any and all parts of the State,
the same powers with respect to criminal matters and the
enforcement of the law relating thereto, as sheriffs, con-
stables, police officers and peace officers have in their re-
spective jurisdiction, and shall have all the immunities
and matters of defense now available or such as hereafter
may be made available to sheriffs, constables, police officers
and peace officers, in any suit brought against them in
consequence of acts done in the course of their employ-
ment. Any warrant of arrest issued by any magistrate of
the State, at the instance of any police employee, may be
executed by any police employees of the Department in any
part of the State according to the tenor thereof without
endorsement. All police employees shall have all the powers,
rights and duties which were or are granted unto the
motor cycle deputies of the Commissioner of Motor Vehi-
cles, as set forth in Article 56, Sections 171 to 265, inclu-
sive, Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, 1924 Edi-
tion, and as set forth in Article 56, Section 171 to 209A,
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, 1929 Supple-
ment, as said Article 56 of the Code of Public General
Laws of Maryland, 1929 Supplement, has been amended
by all subsequent legislation, and shall have all rights and
duties as are granted, or may be granted, unto motor cycle
deputies of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles by any
Act or Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1935;
