current below or approaching minimum standard, require the
operator by written safety order to improve the ventilation
immediately.

"Working Place" means a room, breast, entry, cross-cut or
pillar where coal and/or fire clay is being mined or extracted
and where one or more miners per working shift of the mine
are regularly employed until the place is finished or stopped.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 728.
(House Bill 321)

AN ACT to repeal Section 363 of Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Crimes and Pun-
ishments", sub-title "Marrying Unlawfully" and to repeal
and re-enact, with amendments, Section 7 of Article 62 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Marri-
ages", and to add two new sections to said Article to be
known as Section 7A and 7B to follow immediately after
Section 7 of said Article, to regulate marriages of persons
of certain ages; to provide penalties for the violation
thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 363 of Article 27, of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments",
sub-title "Marrying Unlawfully", be and it is hereby repealed;
and that Section 7 of Article 62 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Marriages", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that two new
sections be and they are hereby added to said Article, said
new sections to be known as Sections 7A and 7B to follow
immediately after Section 7 of said Article and to read as
follows:

7. It shall be unlawful within this State for any female
below the age of sixteen years or any male below the age of
eighteen years to marry, or for a parent to permit any such
female or male to marry, except on the certificate of a licensed
physician, which shall be presented with the application for
the marriage license, to the effect that the girl is pregnant, or
