1466 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 701

Tobacco Marketing is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con-
viction shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars
($500. 00) for each and every such violation.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 701.
(House Bill 601)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Crimes and Punish-
ments", sub-title "Gaming", said new section to be known
as Section 257A and to follow immediately after Section
257 of said Article, authorizing the game of bingo in Alle-
gany County under certain conditions.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Gaming", said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 257A, to follow immediately after
Section 257 of said Article, and to read as follows:

257A. Nothing in this sub-title shall be construed to make
it unlawful for any bona fide fraternal, religious, or charitable
organizations or corporations, or volunteer fire company
operating in communities which have no paid fire department,
to conduct or operate a game of bingo for the benefit of charity
in Allegany County, or in furtherance of the purposes of such
organizations, corporations or volunteer fire department.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of
laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be and they
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.
