shall give notice of the dates, places and hours of such regis-
tration by posting notices in five or more public places in said
town. The Registration officers shall have power to admin-
ister oaths to all persons appearing before them, and any per-
son swearing falsely before them shall be guilty of the crime
of perjury. The Registration books shall when not in use
remain in the custody of the Town Clerk.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the government of
said town shall be vested in a Mayor and six (6) councilmen
to be elected at large as hereinafter provided, each of whom
shall be a registered voter of said town, and own real prop-
erty in said town in his or her own right or jointly with wife
or husband to the assessed value of at least Five Hundred
Dollars ($500. 00), or be purchasing real property in said town,
assessed at $500. 00 or more, under a contract recorded among
the Land Records of Prince George's County, and in which
property such person individually or jointly with spouse shall
have an equity of at least $500. 00 and who shall have resided
within the said town for at least one year next preceding the
election and shall be an actual resident thereof at the time of
election. If at any time such person shall remove from the
town or cease to have an equity of at least $500. 00 in real
estate in said town, his office shall automatically become
vacant.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That election of town
officers shall be held on the first Monday in May in each year
at a place or places to be designated by the Mayor and Com-
mon Council, at which election the polls shall remain open
from seven (7) o'clock A. M. to seven (7) o'clock P. M.

The election shall be conducted by three (3) judges of elec-
tion and two (2) clerks to be appointed by the Mayor and
Common Council of said town. At least ten days before any
election the said Mayor and Common Council shall cause to
be posted in five or more public places in said town the notice
of said election, designate the place or places of voting, the
hours the polls are open and the names of the judges and
clerks. In the event that any judge or clerk after appoint-
ment is unable or declines to serve, the remaining judges shall
name someone to take his or her place. Suitable ballot boxes,
polling places and printed ballots shall be provided by the said
Mayor and Common Council. Any person desiring to become
a candidate for any elective office shall at least five days before
election, file or cause to be filed with one of the judges or
clerks in charge thereof, a petition stating that he or she is
a candidate for the office, and reciting the numbers of the
Liber and folio where the deed or contract referred to in the
