SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diately preservation of the public health and safety, and hav-
ing been passed upon by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 85.
(House Bill 165)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 811
of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Prince George's County", sub-title
"North Brentwood", to change the date of elections and of
appointment of the Board of Election Supervisors for the
town of North Brentwood.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 811 of Article 17 of the Code of Public Lo-
cal Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Prince George's
County", sub-title "North Brentwood", be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

811. Annually on or before the first day of April, the Mayor
and Town Council shall appoint two judges, who shall appoint
a clerk to conduct an election by ballot on the first Monday
of May, if not a legal holiday, and if a legal holiday, then
on the day following, for the election of officers provided
for in Section 809 of this Article. The polls shall be opened
between the hours of one and seven P. M., the two judges
and clerk above provided for shall constitute the Board of
Election Supervisors for said town, and shall determine
the qualifications and right of each voter to participate in
the town election by asking each applicant who presents
himself to vote at the election which they have been ap-
pointed to conduct under oath these questions: First—Have
you resided within the town of North Brentwood for a period
of one year previous to this election? Second—Are you
qualified to vote in the elections of the State of Maryland
or any other State in the United States? And should the
answers of the applicant be in the affirmative to both ques-
