fied copy thereof, and said oath of office, or a certified copy
thereof, shall be kept among the town records.

(L) That said Commission may, by resolution unanimous-
ly adopted, remove any person from the office of town treas-
urer whenever in the judgment of said Commission the welfare
of said town requires such action. And any person accepting
the office of town treasurer, by so accepting said office, con-
sents and agrees that said Commission has such power so to
remove him from office and of finally terminating any right
on his part to receive further salary or compensation, and of
finally terminating any right on his part to receive or hold
any funds, money, property, records, books, papers or other
things or thing of said town. And the person so removed
from the office of town treasurer shall turn over to the said
Commission or to the secretary commissioner any and all
funds, money, property, records, books, papers and other
things or thing of said town in his possession within five (5)
days (including Sundays and holidays), after he shall have

him from office, which said notice may be served by said Com-
mission either personally by any of said commissioners, or by
posting of a copy of said resolution at the last regular meeting
place of said Commission at least five (5) days before the day
named in said resolution for him to turn over the same. Any
person, so removed from such office of town treasurer, who
shall fail or neglect so to turn over to said Commission, or
to the secretary commissioner, all funds, money, property,
records, books, papers and other things or thing of said town
in his possession, shall be liable, and the surety or sureties on
his bond shall be liable, for any loss or damage that said
town may suffer thereby, and said town may institute appro-
priate proceedings either at law or in equity for this purpose
in the Circuit Court of Prince George's County, and, in addi-
tion to any such proceedings as aforesaid, said town may in-
stitute, in the Circuit Court of Prince George's County, a
mandamus proceeding against such removed town treasurer,
and thereby compel such removed town treasurer to turn over
to said Commission, or to said secretary commissioner, all
funds, money, records, books, papers, and other things or thing
of said town. Provided, however, that nothing contained in
this paragraph of this Act shall be construed to limit said
town to the proceedings herein mentioned. And provided,
further, that nothing contained in this paragraph of this Act
shall be construed as relieving any town treasurer or former
town treasurer from criminal responsibility under any of the
criminal laws of the State of Maryland.
