CHAPTER 628.

AN ACT to add seventeen new sections to Article 91 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Sur-
veyor and State Survey", said new sections to be known as
Sections 25 to 41, inclusive, to be under sub-titles "Mary-
land Coordinate System", "Survey Stations", and "Bureau
of Control Surveys and Maps", and to follow immediately
after Section 24 of said Article, to describe, define and offi-
cially adopt a system of coordinates for designating the
positions of points on the surface of the earth within the
State of Maryland, exclusive of Baltimore City; to permit
the entry of engineers and surveyors, and their representa-
tives, onto private property for the purpose of using survey
stations established by or under the direction of the United
States Coast and Geodetic Survey, or as a part of the Mary-
land Coordinate System or by any other organization whose
survey stations have been established by or in accordance
with the requirements of the State Department authorized
to administer the Maryland Coordinate System; providing
for payment of damages; and providing a penalty for the
injuring, defacing and destruction of such marks and monu-
ments; and to authorize the Department of Public Works to
establish a Bureau of Control Surveys and Maps; to
authorize this Bureau to administer the Maryland Coordi-
nate System and to extend that system; to authorize this
Bureau to take over the functions of the present Maryland
Mapping Agency and extend its activities; to provide for
an Advisory Board to control the activities and operations
of this Bureau; and to provide for the expenditure of such
available funds as may be necessary for conducting the work
of this Bureau.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That seventeen new sections be and they are hereby
added to Article 91 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924
Edition), said new sections to be under sub-titles "Maryland
Coordinate System", "Survey Stations" and "Bureau of Con-
trol Surveys and Maps", to be known as Sections 25 to 41,
inclusive, to follow immediately after Section 24 of said
Article, and to read as follows:
Maryland Coordinate System.
25. That the system of plane rectangular coordinates which
has been established and adopted by the United States Coast
and Geodetic Survey for defining and stating the positions or
