CHAPTER 599.
(House Bill 738)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 508
of Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Va-
cations", relating to granting leave of absence to County
employees, and compensation for legal holidays.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 508 of Article 2 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition) be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:
508. All employees in the various departments of the Anne
Arundel County government, who have been in continuous em-
ployment for at least one year, shall be granted leave of ab-
sence for a period not exceeding fifteen days, with full pay, in
each and every calendar year. It shall be the duty of the
heads of the departments to grant leave of absence in a manner
which shall not retard the efficiency of the departments. All
regular County employees shall be paid for legal holidays.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

AN ACT to add five new sections to Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wash-
ington County", sub-title "Hagerstown", said new sections
to be known as Sections 319A to 319E and to follow imme-
diately after Section 319 of said Article, providing for the
creation and establishment of a Central Purchasing Depart-
ment for the City of Hagerstown and providing rules for its
regulation and providing also for the appointment of a Pur-
chasing Agent and fixing the limits for his compensation.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That five new sections be and they are hereby added to
Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
