CHAPTER 543.
(House Bill 658)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
956A, 956B, 956E, 956G and 957 of Article 16 of the Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Montgomery
County", sub-title "Takoma Park", as amended; and Sec-
tions 949A, 949B, 949E, 949G and 950 of Article 17 of the
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Prince George's County", sub-title "Takoma Park", as
amended, the purpose of this Act being to repeal and re-enact
with amendments the said sections and sub-sections of char-
ter of the Town of Takoma Park, Maryland, situated partly
in Montgomery and partly in Prince George's County; the
purpose of the amendments hereby made being to prescribe
the qualifications of voters in town elections; to provide for
bi-ennial elections in the said Town; to provide for the
election of councilmen from existing election precincts
within the town, beginning with the election in May, 1940;
to provide for the election on the first Monday in May, 1939,
of three councilmen to serve for terms of one year each;
to provide for the election of the Mayor and six councilmen
on the first Monday in May, 1940, and every two years there-
after to serve for terms of two years each; to prescribe
qualifications for candidates for Mayor and councilmen and
provide for their nomination; to require the boards of elec-
tion supervisors of Montgomery and Prince George's Coun-
ties to certify lists of the registered voters in State and
County elections within the town and to declare the persons
whose names shall be so certified to be the voters of the
town; to provide for the conduct of elections in the town;
and to remove certain territory in Prince George's County
from the corporate limits of the said Town.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Sections 956A, 956B, 956E, 956G and 957 of Article
1. 6 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Montgomery County", sub-title "Takoma Park", as amended,
and Sections 949A, 949B, 949E, 949G and 950 of Article 17 of
the Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Prince George's County", sub-title "Takoma Park", as
amended, being the said Sections of the Charter of the Town
of Takoma Park, Maryland, situated partly in Montgomery
and partly in Prince George's County, be, and the same are,
hereby repealed and re-enacted to read as follows:

956A. (949A). Every resident of said town whose name
shall be certified to the Mayor and Council under the pro-
