82B. Burial Insurance. Burial insurance as used in this
article means and shall include any kind of agreement, cer-
tificate, policy, contract, bond, assurance guarantee or other
arrangement, by by-law, regulation or otherwise, in or by
which the party issuing such certificate, policy, contract, bond,
assurance guarantee or other arrangement agrees to provide
for the burial of a named or designated person, or to save
harmless anyone for the whole or any part of the costs of the
burial of the body of a named or designated person, or to
pay any part or all of the incidents of the burial of the body
of a named or designated person.
82C. Qualification and organization of burial insurance so-
cieties. Before engaging in the business of burial insurance
any person, association or corporation desiring so to do shall
comply with all of the provisions of the law of this State,
concerning the organization, qualification and conduct of life
insurance companies.
82D. Burial Societies Now Operating. In order to con-
tinue in the business of burial insurance any person, associa-
tion or corporation now engaged therein, shall comply with
the provisions of this article within sixty days after the tak-
ing effect thereof.
82E. Burial Insurance Benefits. All burial insurance bene-
fits shall be paid in cash to the beneficiary. No person, asso-
ciation or corporation engaged in the business of burial in-
surance shall contract to pay or pay such insurance or its
benefits or any part of either, to any official funeral director,
undertaker or to any designated funeral director, undertaker,
funeral directing or undertaking concern or to any particular
tradesman or business man.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 535.
(House Bill 510)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 883
of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
and Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore
City", sub-title "Police Commissioner", classifying Station
House Clerks as sergeants and providing that they shall re-
ceive the same compensation as sergeants.
