cal limits of the Ninth Election District in Montgomery
County as well as elsewhere in said county; and

WHEREAS, The said Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire
Department, Incorporated, since the year 1928, is now, and
proposes to continue to so combat fires within the Ninth Elec-
tion District of said Montgomery County and elsewhere in
said county as aforesaid; and

WHEREAS, The said Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire
Department, Incorporated, continually, since the year 1928,
still is and proposes to continue in the future to render the
public service aforesaid of combating fires and preserving and
protecting the lives and property of residents, citizens and
taxpayers within the geographical limits of the said Ninth
Election District of Montgomery County, Maryland, and else-
where in said county; and

WHEREAS, In performing said public service aforesaid and to
equip itself to continue to perform said public service afore-
said, the said fire department has expended large sums of
money in the construction and erection of a fire house in the
village of Gaithersburg, in said Election District in said
county; and

WHEREAS, Said Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire De-
ment, Incorporated, has expended large sums of money in
procuring adequate equipment in which is included fire engines
and fire hose for the performance of the public service afore-
said; and

WHEREAS, It is deemed advantageous and necessary for the
proper protection of persons and their property within the
Ninth Election District of said Montgomery County and else-
where in said county, that sufficient funds be raised by the
issuance of bonds as hereinafter provided to enable said
Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department, Incorpo-
rated, to discharge and pay off all of said obligations existing
as of the date this enactment becomes effective, incurred for
the purposes aforesaid; therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Montgomery County,
a body corporate, be and it is hereby authorized,, empowered
and directed to borrow, upon the faith and credit of said
county, the sum of Eleven Thousand Dollars ($11, 000. 00), and
to issue bonds in the said amount of Eleven Thousand Dollars
($11, 000. 00), and to sell the same at public or private sale at
an interest rate not to exceed four (4) per centum per annum,
said bonds to be issued in amounts of Five Hundred Dollars
($500. 00) each, and two of said Five Hundred Dollar
