be of opposite political faith and designated as Judges and
the remaining two shall be of opposite political faith and
serve in the capacity of Clerks; said Judges and Clerks shall
be sworn in by the Judges during election day. The retiring
Clerks upon the closing of the polls shall check the ballots
with the number of votes cast and perform such other duties
as may be imposed upon them by law immediately upon the
close of the polls. The two sitting Judges shall continue in
charge of the count of the ballots with the aid of the two new
Judges and Clerks, who shall be clothed with all the authority
vested in Judges and Clerks by law, and shall proceed with the
count of the ballots until all of said ballots have been counted
in accordance with the provisions of the election law.

In shall be the duty of the Supervisors of Election of Cecil
County to make at least one inspection of each polling place
during the day on which a general or primary election is held
and a similar inspection during the count of the ballots on the
night following such election.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1st, 1939.

CHAPTER 493.
(House Bill 711)

AN ACT to authorize, empower and direct the County Com-
missioners of Montgomery County, Maryland, a body corpo-
rate, to borrow on the faith and credit of said Montgomery
County, the sum of Eleven Thousand Dollars ($11, 000. 00),
and to issue bonds therefor, and to authorize and direct the
said County Commissioners and the Treasurer of said Mont-
gomery County to pay the interest on said bonds and the
principal thereof each year as they become due from the
tax authorized and directed to be levied by Chapter 55 of
the Acts of the Special Session of 1933, or any amendment
thereto.

WHEREAS, The Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Depart-
ment, Incorporated, a volunteer company, was organized in the
year 1928 under the laws of the State of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, The said Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire
Department, Incorporated, lias been since said year and still is
combating, suppressing and fighting fires within the geographi-
