604. There shall also be created and established by this
county a Teachers' Relief Fund, which shall be collected and
disbursed by the same Board of Trustees as have been provided
for the Retirement Fund.

The treasurer of the Board of Education of Allegany County
is hereby empowered and required to deduct and retain out of
the monthly salary due each teacher, excepting August and
July, twenty-five cents, and the sum of such monthly assess-
ments shall be immediately paid by the treasurer of the
Board of Education of Allegany County to the said Board of
Trustees, providing that no deductions be made before Sep-
tember, 1912.

Any teacher of the public schools who had been disabled or
incapacitated from performing regular school work for a
period greater than twenty consecutive school days shall be
paid out of said Belief Fund $2. 00 per school day for a period
not greater than fifty school days in any school year.

And provided that each teacher shall furnish each month
a certificate from his or her physician that he or she is in-
capacitated from regular duty and provided that said Board of
Trustees shall have the right to have said teacher examined
by some other physician at its discretion and expense.

In case the assessment herein provided for should not be
sufficient to meet the needs of said Relief Fund, including the
maintenance of the Reserve Fund, as hereinafter provided for,
the Treasurer of the Board of Education of Allegany County
shall be empowered and required to deduct one dollar
or any part thereof from the salary of each teacher for the
month of July, in addition to the twenty-five cents already
provided for, and said treasurer shall pay same to the Board
of Trustees, as heretofore provided for.

Section 602 shall not apply to the Relief Fund, which shall
be operative from September 30, 1912.

The terms "teacher" and "members, of the teaching force of
Allegany County", as used in this Act, shall mean and in-
clude any principal, vice-principal, assistant superintendent,
supervisor, assistant supervisor, person in charge of any spe-
cial department of instruction, and any teacher or instructor
regularly employed as such by the Board of Education of said
County, including any teacher who shall have been on leave of
absence on account of sickness.

604A. In addition to the assessments provided for in Sec-
tion 604 of this Act, the treasurer of the Board of Education
of Allegany County is hereby empowered and required to de-
duct and retain out of the monthly salary due each teacher,
excepting August and July, an additional sum of thirty-five
cents, and the sum of such monthly assessments shall be imme-
