HERBERT R. O'CONOR, GOVERNOR. 1029

"County Commissioners", as said section was amended by
Chapter 541 of the Acts of 1937, increasing the salary of
the Attorney for the County Commissioners of Washington
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 144 of Article 22 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", as said section
was amended by Chapter 541 of the Acts of 1937, be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

144. The County Clerk shall receive for his services an
annual salary of Two Thousand Dollars ($2, 000. 00), payable
in equal monthly installments by the County Commissioners of
Washington County. The said County Commissioners are
hereby authorized and empowered to employ an assistant to
the County Clerk, who shall receive for his services an annual
salary fixed by the County Commissioners at their discretion
but not exceeding Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1, 500. 00), pay-
able in equal monthly installments, and to employ an attor-
ney for said Commissioners, who shall receive for his services
an annual salary fixed by the County Commissioners at their
discretion but not exceeding Nine Hundred Dollars ($900. 00),
payable in equal monthly installments. The said County Com-
missioners are hereby authorized and required to levy the
needful taxes on the assessable property within the county
liable to taxation as shall be sufficient to pay said salaries.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1st, 1939.

CHAPTER 486.
(House Bill 634)

AN ACT to add two new sections to Article 2B of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement), title "Alcoholic
Beverages", said new sections to be known as Sections 6A
and 36A and to follow immediately after Sections 6 and 36,
respectively, relating to licenses for the sale of alcoholic
beverages in Anne Arundel County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That two new sections be and they are hereby added
to Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1935 Sup-
