electing the lay members of the Committee of the Presby-
terian Church in Snow Hill, in Worcester County, and in
the term of office of such members and in the qualifications
of those entitled to vote for such members.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 3 and 4, of Chapter 15 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed in the year 1800, be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, so as to read as follows:
3. That the successors of the present Committee of the said
Church shall be elected in the manner following, viz: The
members of the said Church, being twenty-one years of age,
being subscribers to the budget of said church, and not being
in arrears more than six months in their subscriptions, may
and shall meet at the regular place of worship for said church
or at such place as may have been appointed by the corpora-
tion, on the first Monday of May in the year nineteen hundred
thirty-nine, or on any other Monday of the same month,
whereof due notice shall always be given by the president of
the corporation, for the time being, in the forenoon of the
Sunday preceding the day of such meeting, at the place where
public worship is usually held, and then and there they, or
so many as may attend, shall elect, in such manner as said
member by viva voce vote determine, twelve members of the
said Church, four of whom shall be elected for one year,
four of whom shall be elected for two years and four of whom
shall be elected for three years, who shall hold office until
their successors are elected; and on the first Monday of May,
or on any other Monday of the same month, in each and every
year thereafter, due notice thereof having been given as afore-
said, the members of said church, being qualified to vote as
aforesaid, or so many of them as may attend, shall meet and
elect as aforesaid four members of said Committee to succeed
those whose terms are about to expire. The members so
elected at the annual meeting in the year nineteen hundred
forty and in each year thereafter shall hold office for three
years and until their successors are elected. The members
whose terms expire each year shall be and remain ineligible
for re-election until the next annual election herein provided
for.
4. That in case of the death or resignation of any lay
member of said body corporate, the remaining members, or a
majority of them, shall have full power and authority at their
next or any subsequent meeting, to elect another person in
his place to serve out his unexpired term.
