twenty-four hours, shall be given.. The wish and request of
the parent or guardian as to the place of commitment shall be
respected, unless good cause to the contrary be shown by the
supervisors. The Supervisors of City Charities shall have
power to place foundlings in any proper institution or child
placing agency with which the city has a contract.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1931.

CHAPTER 390.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 23 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Corporations, "
sub-title "Public Service Commission, " said new section to
be known as Section 388A and to follow immediately after
Section 388 of said Article, providing that the gas delivered
to consumers in the City of Annapolis shall have the same
purity, illuminating power, and heating power as the gas
delivered to the consumers in the City of Baltimore.

CHAPTER 391.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 56 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1929 Supplement), title "Licenses, "
sub-title "Motor Vehicles, " sub-heading "General Provi-
sions—Applicability, " said new section to be known as Sec-
tion 172A and to follow immediately after Section 172 of
said Article, to provide that the driver or owner of a motor
vehicle shall not be liable for injuries occurring without
gross negligence on the part of the driver to any person who
is a gratuitous passenger in said motor vehicle.
