Non-resident alien dependents may be officially represented
by the consular officers of the nation of which such alien or
aliens may be citizens or subjects, and in such cases the con-
sular officers shall have the right to receive, for distribution to
such non-resident alien dependents, all compensation awarded
hereunder, and the receipt of such consular officers shall be a
full discharge of all sums paid to and received by them.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect on June 1st, 1931.

CHAPTER 364.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40
of Article 101 of the Annotated Code of the Public General
Laws of Maryland, Edition of 1924, title "Workmen's Com-
pensation, " sub-title "Claims and Compensation; Benefits, ""
authorizing the State Industrial Accident Commission to
approve compromise settlements of claims under this Article,,
and providing that when such settlements are made and
approved by the Commission the same shall be binding upon
all parties thereto.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 40 of Article 101 of the Annotated
Code of the Public General Laws of Maryland, Edition of
1924, title "Workmen's Compensation, " sub-title "Claims and
Compensation; Benefits, " be and the same is hereby repealed,
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
40. The Commission shall make or cause to be made such
investigation of any claim as it deems necessary, and upon
application of either party, shall order a hearing and within
thirty days after a claim for compensation is submitted under
this section, or such hearing closed, shall make or deny an
award, determining such claim for compensation, and file the
same in the office of the Commission, together with a statement
of its conclusions of fact and rulings of law. The Commissions
may, if it deems proper, on the written application of any
