'890                    LAWS OF MARYLAND.                 [CH. 352

to be known as Section 777EE, to follow immediately after
777E of said Article, and to read as follows:

777EE. The said Police Commissioner for the City of
Baltimore is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to- in-
clude the stenographers, the foreman of the Traffic Sign Divi-
sion, the chief machinist and machinists, the laborers, hostlers,
printer and station-house fireman in the Police Department
within the provisions of Section 777 of this Article, so that they
may enjoy the same rights, privileges and benefits, subject to
the same limitations and conditions, as are therein prescribed
and conferred for the retiring of members of the Police Force
of the City of Baltimore; provided, however, that any of the
persons occupying any of the positions mentioned in this sec-
tion, who were in the service of the Police Department prior
to the year 1900, shall first pay into the Special Fund a sum
-equivalent to two per centum (2%) of the salary paid to him
or them since the year 1900, with interest in addition thereto,
and any of the persons occupying any of the positions men-
tioned in this section, who have been employed since the year
1900, shall pay into the Special Fund a sum equivalent to two
per centum (2%) of the salary paid to him or them since the
date of his or their employment, with interest in addition
thereto, and thereafter the regular percentage required under
the Special Pension Act.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1931.

CHAPTER 352.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 8 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Cecil County, " to be under sub-title "Building Permits, "
said new section to be known as Section 54A and to follow
immediately after Section 54 of said Article, to prohibit all
construction or repairing of buildings in said county where
the value of such work exceeds a certain sum, unless a
permit for the same is first issued by the County Commis-
sioners of said county, and to provide for the method of
issuing said permits.
