tion thereof shall be fined not exceeding five hundred dollars
($500. 00).

284. If any clause, section or provision of this Act shall
be held unconstitutional or invalid, such determination shall
not be held to affect any other clause, section or provision
hereof.

285. All Acts and parts of Acts inconsistent with the pro-
visions of this Act are hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from and after June 1st, 1931.

CHAPTER 325.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 5 and 6 of Chapter 200 of the
Acts of Assembly of Maryland of 1916, the same being a
part of the Charter of the Mayor and Common Council of
Mount Rainier, and to re-enact the same with amendments.
The said re-enacted sections changing the eligibility require-
ments of candidates for Mayor and Councilmen, and pro-
viding for the payment of salaries to the Mayor and Council-
men of the Town of Mount Rainier, Maryland, upon ap-
proval by the qualified voters of said town, and providing
for a referendum on the question of payment of salaries.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 5 and 6 of Chapter 200 of the Acts
of Assembly of Maryland of 1916, be and the same are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, so as to read as
follows:

5. That each candidate for Mayor of said town shall be
a legal voter of said town at the time of his or her filing for
election, a resident in said town for at least two years next
preceded the date of his or her election, and the owner of real
estate in said town in his or her own name or the name of him-
self or herself and spouse to the assessed value of at least five
hundred dollars at the time of his or her filing for election.
