provisions of Chapter 193 of the Acts of the General As-
sembly of Maryland, Session 1929.
SECTION 1. * Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 2 of Chapter 414 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, Session of 1929, designated as
Section 619 of Article 16 of the Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "Montgomery County, " sub-title "Maryland-Wash-
ington Metropolitan District, " as edited by Horace E. Flack
under the provisions of Chapter 193 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, Session of 1929, be and the said
Act is hereby repealed and re-enacted to read as follows:
619. The County Commissioners of Montgomery County are
hereby directed and empowered to appoint and employ some
suitable person as County Building Inspector, who shall hold
office at the pleasure of the County Commissioners and shall
be paid a sum not to exceed twenty-eight hundred dollars
($2, 800. 00) per annum, and they are hereby authorized, em-
powered and directed to fix a schedule of fees or charges for
the issuance of permits for the construction, repair, erection
or remodeling of houses or buildings in the Maryland-Wash-
ington Metropolitan District. The Inspector of Buildings ap-
pointed as aforesaid shall have the supervision of the construc-
tion of all buildings erected in said district and shall see that
the rules and regulations of the County Commissioners relating
to the construction of said building shall be complied with, and
shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the
County Commissioners aforesaid not inconsistent with this Act,
provided that any person or persons violating any rules and
regulations so promulgated by the County Commissioners or
this Act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
thereof in the Circuit Court or Police Court of Montgomery
County shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars
($100. 00); and the County Commissioners are hereby author-
ized and empowered to appoint and employ an assistant to the
Building Inspector, who shall hold office at the pleasure of the
County Commissioners and shall be paid as compensation for
his services a sum not to exceed twenty-seven hundred dollars
($2, 700. 00) per annum, the said assistant to the Building In-
spector to be under the direction of the County Building In-
spector and' shall perform such duties as may be required in
