74                           LAWS OF MARYLAND.                   [CH. 46

Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Washington County, " sub-title "Funks-
town, " said new section to be known as Section 222A, to follow
immediately after Section 222 of said Article, and to read as
follows:

222A. The rates or charges for the use of water as deter-
mined by the Burgess and Commissioners of Funkstown are
hereby declared to be and made liens upon the property served
by said water, and the said rates or charges shall be collected
as other municipal taxes are collected.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1931.

Approved April 6, 1931.

CHAPTER 46.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
205 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1930 Edition), title "Washington County, " sub-title
"Funkstown, " conferring authority upon the Burgess and
Commissioners to regulate and/or license public dances
and/or other amusements.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 205 of Article 22 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washing-
ton County, " sub-title "Funkstown, " be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

205. The Burgess and Commissioners may make such by-
laws and ordinances as they may deem expedient for the com-
fort, health, convenience and general prosperity of the said
town, as well as all regulations for the security of property and
good government of said municipality; and to this end it shall
have power to institute a fire department; to prevent, remove
and abate all nuisances in or upon the streets, highways, lanes
or alleys, drains or water-courses, or in or upon any lot or
lots adjacent thereto, and provide for imposing a fine or fines
upon any person or persons so offending; to remove or cause
to be removed, or rendered safe at the expense of the owner
any ricketty chimneys or other structures that may be regarded
as dangerous; to prevent live stock of any kind from running
