WHEREAS, It is desired to provide herein, that Section 1 of
Chapter 227 of the said Acts of 1927 is not intended, and
should not be construed, to limit the power and authority of
the Mayor and Council of Easton to build or otherwise pro-
vide either one or two buildings for the purposes and with the
funds as in said Act provided; now therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That in Section 1 of said Chapter 227 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1927, it is intended
that the Mayor and Council of Easton may, in their discretion,
either erect or otherwise provide one building as, in their judg-
ment, shall be suitable to house and take proper care of the
property and equipment of the Easton Fire Department and
to supply the offices necessary for the use and needs of the town
government and the several departments thereof, or, if in the
judgment of said the Mayor and Council of Easton, it is more
suitable to build or otherwise provide a separate building for
said property and equipment of said Fire Department and to
build or otherwise provide a separate building for said munici-
pal offices, then, and in that event, it is so intended by said Act
of 1927 that the Mayor and Council of Easton may and are
hereby expressly authorized to, so build or otherwise provide
such separate buildings as may be deemed to be suitable and
proper for the purposes aforesaid, and to use the funds author-
ized by said Act of 1927, or any part thereof not otherwise
appropriated, for either or any of the purposes hereinbefore
mentioned, whether in payment of the entire cost of said build-
ing, buildings or any of them, or in conjunction with other
moneys otherwise to be provided by said the Mayor and Coun-
cil of Easton for said purposes or for any of said purposes; and
the commission created by said Chapter 227 of the Acts of
1927 shall be understood to have the power and authority, in
respect to erecting or otherwise providing either one or two
buildings, for said purposes, as is set forth in Section 4 of said
Chapter 227 of the^Acts of 1927.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts and parts
of Acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed to the extent
of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and being
