SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1931.

CHAPTER 211.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
501 of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett County, " sub-title
"State's Attorney, " to authorize the County Commissioners
for said county to pay to the State's Attorney for said coun-
ty, an annual sum to cover all the expenses of said attorney's
office.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 501 of Article 12 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett
County, " sub-title "State's Attorney, " be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

501. The State's Attorney for Garrett County shall receive
an annual salaryxof fifteen hundred dollars, which salary shall
be paid to him by the County Commissioners of said county,
payable quarterly by warrant on the County Treasurer, and
the said Commissioners shall likewise pay to him, for the year
1931 and each year thereafter, the sum of seven hundred and
fifty ($750. 00) dollars, said sum to cover all the expenses of
his office, including stationery, postage and necessary traveling
expenses. It shall be the duty of the Sheriff of said county to
collect and pay over to said county any appearance or other fee
taxed as part of the costs payable to the State's Attorney in
any criminal case.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and the same
being passed upon a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of
its passage.
