mediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
being passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date
of its passage.

CHAPTER 200.
AN ACT to incorporate the subdivisions of Cheverly and
South Cheverly (formerly known as the Colony) as the
town of Cheverly, in Prince George's County, Maryland,,
and to provide for the government thereof, and for the sub-
mission of this question to the qualified voters of said town
for their adoption or rejection; and to provide for the elec-
tion and succession of a Mayor and Town Council of Chev-
erly, who shall have power to make and enforce rules and
regulations for the public health and safety, and to authorize,
empower and direct the said Mayor and Town Council of
Cheverly to make annual levies of not to exceed twenty-five
cents ($. 25) on each one hundred ($100) dollars of the
assessable value of real and personal property of the said
town of Cheverly, for the purpose of improving, maintain-
ing, repairing and lighting the public roads, streets, alleys,
lanes and sidewalks and parking, for improvement of drain-
age and for other public improvements; and for providing
police protection and other public services and for defray-
ing the necessary and incidental expenses of the Mayor and
Town Council of Cheverly in the performance of its public
duties; and who shall appoint a town clerk and treasurer to
receive and disburse said funds; also directing the Board
of County Commissioners of Prince George's County to-
pay over to said town clerk and treasurer of the said town
of Cheverly for the purpose of maintaining, repairing roads,
streets, lanes and alleys of said town, the money collected on
account of the county road and bridge tax in the same amount
and manner as is now required by law to be paid to incor-
porated towns in said county.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the citizens of the town of Cheverly are a*
