SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 766 of Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wash-
ington County, " sub-title "Smithsburg, " be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, so as to
read as follows:

766. The said Burgess shall be paid a salary for his serv-
ices not to exceed the sum of fifty dollars per annum. The
Assistant Burgess and the three Commissioners shall each be
paid for their respective services, a salary not to exceed the
sum of twenty dollars per annum.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1931.

Approved March 13, 1931.

CHAPTER 27.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 4
of Article 74 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924
Edition), title "Pilots, " by increasing the draught of vessels,
that may be piloted by second-grade pilots.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 4 of Article 74 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Pilots, " be and the same
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

4. The Board of Examiners shall examine each applicant
producing such certificate; and if upon public examination,
the person shall appear to the board of sufficient ability, skill
and experience they shall grant him one of three kinds of
warrants of appointment and license, under seal, according to
the qualification of such person, thereby authorizing him for
one year from the date of such warrant either to pilot such
vessels of any draught of water, or vessels not exceeding
seventeen feet draught, or vessels not exceeding twelve feet
draught; and every person receiving such warrant and ap-
pointment shall thereafter be reported a lawful pilot.
