30                           LAWS OF MARYLAND.                   [CH. 18;

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and the same is hereby added
to Staton's Code of Public Local Laws of Worcester County,,
title "Ocean City, " to be known as Section 172B, and to fol-
low immediately after Section 172A of said Code, and to read
as follows:

172B. In addition to the powers already possessed and not
in limitation thereof the Mayor and City Council of Ocean
City from time to time whenever it shall deem it necessary,,
shall have power to borrow money on the faith and credit of
the town of Ocean City in an amount not to exceed fifteen
thousand dollars outstanding at any one time by passing an
ordinance or ordinances authorizing such indebtedness to be
incurred and by issuing for such indebtedness the promissory
note or notes of the Mayor and City Council of Ocean City,
said note or notes to be signed by the Mayor and countersigned
by the President of the City Council; provided, however, that
the aggregate amount of money so borrowed shall at no time-
exceed the aggregate amount of unpaid taxes, water rents and
sidewalk, boardwalk, street and seawall assessments levied or
assessed by said Mayor and City Council and not barred by
limitations.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency law and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public safety, and being passed upon a yea
and nay vote supported by three-fifths of the members elected
to each of the two houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 18.

AN ACT to authorize the Road Directors of Allegany County
upon the petition of the Board of Education of Allegany
County to close certain streets and alleys in Section B of
Cellulose City Addition, near Cresaptown, Allegany County,,
as shown on the plat of said Cellulose City Addition, re-
corded among the Land Records of Allegany County, and to
provide that said streets and alleys shall be closed in accord-
