CHAPTER 136.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
228 and 234 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of the
Public General Laws of Maryland, Edition of 1924, enti-
tled "Health, " sub-title "Commissioners of Pharmacy, " for
the purpose of revising the regulations for the registration
of pharmacists, and discontinuing the registration of assist-
ant pharmacists.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 228 and 234 of Article 43 of the
Annotated Code of the Public General Laws of Maryland,
Edition of 1924, entitled "Health, " sub-title "Commissioners
of Pharmacy, " be and the same are hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, so as to read as follows:
228. No person shall open, conduct or keep a pharmacy in
this State, either as a principal or agent, unless such a person
shall have obtained a pharmacist's certificate, as hereinafter
provided, and no pharmacy shall be at any time left in charge
of any person who is not a registered pharmacist. It shall,
however, be lawful for physicians and dentists to personally
compound and dispense their own prescriptions, but unlawful
for any person, not a registered pharmacist, to compound phy-
sicians' prescriptions. Any person violating this section shall,
upon conviction, be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and fined
not more than one hundred dollars for each offense.
234. Any person of good moral character, who has had
four years7 actual experience in a pharmacy where physi-
cians7 prescriptions are daily compounded, and has attained
the age of twenty-one years, who shall present satisfactory
evidence to the Maryland Board of Pharmacy that he or she
has had at least four years7 standard high school training or
its equivalent, and is a graduate of a reputable school or col-
lege of pharmacy approved by the said board, and who after
examination by the said board shall be by it deemed compe-
tent, shall be registered as pharmacist and be given a certificate
of such registration, provided, however, that not more than
three years may be deducted from the four years of actual drug
store experience aforesaid, for the actual time of attendance at
a reputable school or college of pharmacy. Such person shall
make application to the secretary of said board at least ten
