correction of the tax list in each year, which the Council is by
law required to make, and not afterwards; and provided fur-
ther, that any such abatement and exemption shall be limited
to a period of five years from the passage of the ordinance grant-
ing the same; the Council shall further keep a record of all abate-
ments made by it, as aforesaid; they may provide by ordinance
or otherwise for the prompt collection of taxes due the town, and
have power to sell real estate, as well as personal property, for
the payment of taxes.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts and parts of
Acts inconsistent with the intent and purposes of this Act be
and the same are hereby repealed in so far as they or either of
them are inconsistent herewith.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from and after June 1, 1931.

CHAPTER 14.
AN ACT authorizing and empowering the Mayor and Council
of Easton to borrow on the faith and credit of the Town of
Easton, a sum of money not exceeding forty-five thousand
dollars ($45, 000), to be applied in retiring the bonded in-
debtedness of the Easton "Water Company, due May 1st, 1932.
guaranteed by the Mayor and Council of Easton in accordance
with Section 7 of Chapter 73 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1914, and to issue coupon bonds
therefor and to provide for the payment of the same with in-
terest thereon.
WHEREAS, A bonded indebetdness was outstanding against
the Easton Water Company in the amount of forty-five thou-
sand dollars ($45, 000) at the time of the purchase of the water
works by the Mayor and Council of Easton in accordance with
the provisions of Chapter 73 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1914, which said indebtedness was guaranteed
by the Mayor and Council of Easton as provided by Section 7
of the aforesaid Act; and
WHEREAS, Said bonds mature and are due on May 1st, 1932;
now therefore
